Overview

The main products exported from the State are Gems & Jewelleries, Petrochemicals, engineering items, metal and metal products, drugs and pharmaceuticals, readymade garments, agro-based products, and plastic and plastic items. To recognize efforts put up by the exporters and to boost the exports from state, Government of Maharashtra is taking initiatives like giving awards for export performance and Govt. of Maharashtra implements space rent subsidy scheme to Small Scale Industries for participation in International Exhibitions.

State Planned Scheme: Strengthening of Export Promotion
  1. 50% space rent subsidy to SSI units for participation in Industrial Exhibition in foreign countries
  2. The Small Scale Industrial Entrepreneurs participating in the International Exhibition/Trade Fare held in India or abroad are assisted by giving space rent incentive 50% of the actual space rent paid or maximum ₹ 1.00 Lakh, after certification by ITPO , New Delhi or the Export Promotion Councils established by the Central Government. The objective of the scheme is to motivate the Small Scale Industrial Entrepreneurs to participate in the International Exhibition / Trade Fare by reducing the financial burden. The scheme helps SSI industrial products to get global market consequently increasing the exports from the State.

  3. Export Award Scheme for the BEST EXPORTERS in State
  4. This scheme is being implemented since 1971-72. Under this scheme, Export Awards in the form of gold and silver plaques are given to the best exporters. Similarly, merit certificates are also given to exporters who have shown the minimum prescribed performance in the field of export.

    The main objective of this scheme is to recognize and appreciate the meritorious export performance of registered exporters and to encourage them for betterand higher export performance in future.

  1. Participation in Industrial Exhibition & Trade Fair (State)
  2. The objective of this scheme is to give wide visual publicity to the product of S.S.I. Units in the State and enable them to secure lasting market avenues and also to provide opportunities to Small Scale entrepreneurs to see large varieties of ancillary and import substitution items at one place and motivate them to take up production of such items.

    Industrial Exhibitions were conducted by the Directorate of Industries upto 1983. Since 1984 onwards Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC) is organising the Industrial Exhibition both financially and physically through India Trade Promotion organisation, New Delhi on behalf of Govt. of Maharashtra.

    The funds approved by the High Power Committee for exhibition, are transferred to MSSIDC for their disposal, after getting sanction from the Govt. The participants, viz. SSI Units are provided with necessary infrastructure facilities such as space (stall), free electricity and transportation facilities with nominal charges.

  3. Establishment of Permanent Exhibition Centers
  4. With the help of various Govt & local institutions participation international exhibition centers are being established in Moshi near Pune-Nashik Road, Shendre Industrial Estate near Aurangabad & Ambazari Garden in Nagpur.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for submitting application for grant of awards:
  1. The export of the unit should be more than ₹ 2.00 Crores during last 2 years.
  2. Enterprise should have filed memorandum with the concerned authority.
  3. The exporters falling under following category & Commodity can apply:
    1. The scheme covers the following categories of registered exporters:
      • Large Scale registered manufacturer exporters
      • Small Scale registered manufacturer exporters
      • Merchant Exporter
      • Recognized Export House
      • Trading House
      • State Government Corporation
      • Service Exporter
    2. The scheme covers the following categories of registered exporters:
      • Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises
        1. Engineering products (excluding canalized items)
        2. Electronics & electrical products (for units in SEEPZ area)
        3. Electronics & electrical products (units other than SEEPZ area)
        4. Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics products
        5. Chemical & allied products (glass and ceramics, paints and varnishes, paper and paper products, wood and wood products, rubber and rubber goods, etc.)
        6. Plastics & linoleum products
        7. Leather & leather goods (including processed hides and skins)
        8. Fresh vegetables, fruits, processed food and other agricultural products
        9. Marine products (including meat)
        10. All type of textiles, excluding readymade garments
        11. Readymade garments
        12. Handicrafts
        13. Gems and Jewellery (excluding virgin silver)
        14. Sports goods
      • Large Scale Industries
        1. Engineering products (excluding canalized items)

Criteria for grant of 50% space rent subsidy for participation in International Trade Fairs/ Exhibition
  1. Small Scale Unit participated in international trade fairs/exhibitions should submit certificate from concerned Indian trade Promotion Organization (ITPO),New Delhi related Export Promotion Councils/Agencies.
  2. After certificate from Maharashtra State Export Promotion Council for the participation in national/international trade fairs/exhibitions, subsidy limited to 50% of actual space rent or ₹ 1.00 Lakh, whichever is less will be granted to Small Scale Unit in a financial year.
  3. Benefit of this scheme for participation in international trade fairs/ exhibitions to a Small Scale Unit is limited to 5 (five) times participation in international trade fairs/exhibitions or 5 (five) years only.
  4. Small Scale Unit, who has benefited earlierfor 5 (five) times participationin international trade fairs/exhibitions or 5 (five) years participated ininternational trade fairs/exhibitions are not eligible for subsidy.
  5. Priority will be given to Small Scale Unit Agro Industry, Village Industry, Fisheries/Marine Products Industry.
